The European Commission is inviting stakeholders to provide their input on a draft Code of practice on industry-academia co-creation for knowledge valorisation and a draft Code of practice on citizens’ engagement for knowledge valorisation. All interested stakeholders are invited to voice their opinion and fill in the surveys. Open until 20 October 2023.
The two draft codes of practice follow from the Council Recommendation on the guiding principles for knowledge valorisation to provide more concrete and detailed guidance on industry-academia co-creation and citizen engagement to improve knowledge valorisation. The Commission aims to collect further input to the finalisation of the two codes of practice that shall be instrumental to raise awareness and guide research and innovation actors in implementing good practices for effective knowledge valorisation.

Two communities of practice were launched through an open call for participation by the European Commission in March 2023 to co-create the draft codes. These codes of practice are foreseen to be adopted as Commission Recommendations in the first quarter of 2024.
The codes of practice will contribute to the European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda action 7 to ‘Upgrade EU guidance for better knowledge valorisation’. They will complement the existing Commission Recommendations on the code of practice on intellectual assets management for knowledge valorisation ((EU) 2023/499) and the code of practice on standardisation in the European Research Area ((EU) 2023/498).
