Annual update from the General Assembly

On 2nd May 2024, the Board and members united online for the 2024 General Assembly.

Opened by departing President, Christophe Haunold, members were updated on the challenges and successes of the past year. Christophe reported on a healthy increase in members in the intervening year which continues the year-on-year growth seen since 2020. This growth was mirrored by the number of events delivered in 2023-24, which has almost doubled over the course of the year.

There was optimistic news too from Jurgen Joossens, Vice President Finance and Business Development, who reported on the association’s good financial health; described as “confident of a solid financial stability for ASTP”, by the Audit Committee.

Member’s then heard from all the Vice President’s and the success of their portfolios, such as new Special Interest Groups; new training courses; a new series of thematic event launched in 2023; and more visibility, advocacy work, and networking building across Europe.

As the meet drew to the end, it was time to elect the Board which will lead the association into 2025. High praise and thanks were extended you outgoing President, Christophe Haunold for all his hard work and guidance during his two years leading ASTP.

Thanks too was given to departing VP Europe Smiljka Viki?-Topi? for her support and leadership of the Europe Committee. Anette Poulsen Miltoft from Denmark, has volunteered to step into this role while Fabrice Lefebvre from France shall pick up the mantel of VP Metrics.

Finally Art Bos, Head of Business Development and Knowledge Transfer, Erasmus Research Services and long-time ASTP member has been elected as the new President.

The association’s CEO, Laura MacDonald, took an opportunity to thank can congratulate everyone involved with the Board and all the members for attending the meeting and building the association.
